God's Splendor!!

I feel like the butcher who backed into the meat grinder, getting a little behind in my work!! I have still been able to get out and get plenty of photos of God’s Creation, in all its Splendor and Glory, but haven’t been able to get everything processed and uploaded for everyone to view here. Sooooooo … here are LOTS of SHOTS!!

First the sad news, with a ray of hope – Apparently, the baby Osprey, highlighted in the last post (first photo in this one), didn’t survive the storms a few weeks ago. Pebbles and Bam  Bam (Mama and Daddy) are still in the area, but the nest is abandoned. The storms were strong and relentless. However, my dear friend Virginia, who is much more knowledgeable than I (about anything, and especially Ospreys), said that it’s possible that Pebbles moved the baby to a safer location and is raising it there. She has seen it happen before, so there is always hope!!

There is a large variety of wildlife featured in this post. The goslings, ducklings, and Osprey chicks are all getting bigger. I found another nest of Ospreys that is a little bit less accessible, but has THREE babies, Huey, Dewey and Louise!! Baby Ospreys have black feathers with white tips and red eyes for their first year. In the most recent shots here, they are about 10 weeks old. They are already full-grown, and flying. Their wingspan is about 6′ – which is longer than mine!! Female Ospreys have brown, spotted “necklaces”, which makes it easier to distinguish them. Some of the photos earlier in this post (they are in chronological order) show the babies flying straight up, or across the nest, but not out of the nest. The most recent ones, of course, show them flying freely and majestically.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other decent shots of Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Green Herons, and so much more. All photos have captions, by the way. Simply touch on it or click on it and you will see the caption.

I found out recently from a dear friend that she wasn’t seeing her comments after she posted them. They don’t show up immediately. I am notified when anyone comments, and I have to approve them. I always approve and reply within 24 hours. You should get a notification of approval. I really do appreciate everyone’s kind comments. They are very humbling and encouraging!!

Remember, my goal is to showcase God’s Beauty and Splendor in my little neck of the woods, and to encourage all of you to get out and see it for yourselves … and take the kids!!

Thank you all for visiting!! See you next time!!

Danny D.
