Ospreys

The Ospreys of Lake Oconee have become my favorite subjects. Watching a mating pair (they mate for life) build their nest, raise their young, including feeding them, protecting them from intruders, sheltering them from the elements, and teaching them to fly is absolutely amazing!!

Last year’s focus family included George, Martha, and Baby Huey (who turned out to be a female). We fear, tragically, that we have lost Martha, due to a fishing lure being caught on her right leg, then her abdomen, and worse.

This year’s focus family includes Pebbles and Bam Bam, and their offspring Tom (male) and Jeri (female). They are amazing to observe!!
