Return of the Ospreys
It’s mating time and nest-building time for the Ospreys of Lake Oconee again!! These photos are of Pebbles and Bam Bam, last year’s featured couple. Ospreys mate for life, and usually occupy the same nest every year.
In this series, Bam Bam was already in the nest when Pebbles flew in for some lovin’. Pebbles, like all female Ospreys, has a brown spotted “necklace’. Bam Bam seemed to be tired, but perked up upon her arrival. Shortly thereafter, they mated. Soon after that, Bam Bam flew away, only to come back for a little more lovin’. Life is good!!
I have counted over 15 nests in the one relatively small area where I hang out. Through the efforts of a very dear friend and Georgia Power, this nest is by far the most accessible for getting good shots.
I plan to follow Pebbles and Bam Bam, along with a few other couples, throughout the Spring and Summer, watching their babies grow and fly off on their own. It is a fun and amazing process!! I am in awe of God’s Creation in all its splendor and beauty!!
Please pray for the people of Ukraine, and please pray for America. God listens, and answers ALL of our prayers!!
